Going Global 2017
With thanks to Going Global for another full seminar theatre yesterday. In fact, a full house plus standing room only outside.
The theme of Michael Gasiorek’s talk this year was Brexit: Which Industries Might See an Impact if We Fall of The Cliff Edge, referring to what might be the impact of the UK leaving the EU without a free trade deal in place.
Michael reviewed:
- The scope of factors affecting market access (costs of trade, border costs, tariffs, non-tariff measures, value chains)
- The UK’s existing relations with the EU (the high percentage of goods and services currently exported to the EU, conformity of standards, migration, what needs to be considered in a new FTA)
- Liberalising access to countries outside the EU
- Global sector trends and current UK performance in relation to these trends (highlighting both capitalised and missed opportunities)
Michael’s talk was followed by an interesting and informed Q&A session.
As always, we would like to thank everyone who introduced themselves and chatted with us at the event – we look forward to being in touch with you very soon.
